The exemption of women from the military draft is soon to end. Top generals told the Senate the other day that women must be drafted:

Women should be required to register for the draft if all combat jobs are going to be open to them, the top generals of the Marines and Army said Tuesday.

“Every American who’s physically qualified should register for the draft,” Gen. Robert Neller, commandant of the Marine Corps, told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley agreed with Neller.

“I think that all eligible and qualified men and women should register for the draft,” he said.

Women enjoyed an exemption from the draft because they were exempt from combat. The combat exemption stopped equal protection lawsuits that would have forced the military to draft women. Because men were drafted for combat and women were exempt, the legal reasoning went, one could not claim men were treated differently vis-a-vis the draft.

Now that our bemedaled heroes in Pentagon have surrendered to the Sisterhood, that draft exemption was bound to fall. Now, we have men who should know better telling us they’re coming for our daughters.
