Another War in the Works

Does anyone remember all the lies that they were told by President Bush and the "mainstream media" about the grave threat to America from weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? These lies were repeated endlessly in the print and TV media despite the reports from the weapons inspectors, who had been sent to Iraq, that no such weapons existed.

The weapons inspectors did an honest job in Iraq and told the truth, but the mainstream media did not emphasize their findings. Instead, the media served as a Ministry of Propaganda, beating the war drums for the U.S. government.

Now the whole process is repeating itself. This time the target is Iran.

As there is no real case against Iran, Barack Obama took a script from Bush's playbook and fabricated one.

First the facts: As a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, Iran's nuclear facilities are open to inspection by the International Atomic Energy Agency, which carefully monitors Iran's nuclear energy program to make certain that no material is diverted to nuclear weapons.

The IAEA has monitored Iran's nuclear energy program and has announced repeatedly that it has found no diversion of nuclear material to a weapons program. All 16 U.S. intelligence agencies have affirmed and reaffirmed that Iran abandoned interest in nuclear weapons years ago.

In keeping with the safeguard agreement that the IAEA be informed before an enrichment facility comes online, Iran informed the IAEA on Sept. 21 that it had a new nuclear facility under construction. By informing the IAEA, Iran fulfilled its obligations under the safeguards agreement. The IAEA will inspect the facility and monitor the nuclear material produced to make sure it is not diverted to a weapons program.

Despite these unequivocal facts, Obama announced on Sept. 25 that Iran has been caught with a "secret nuclear facility" with which to produce a bomb that would threaten the world.

The Obama regime's claim that Iran is not in compliance with the safeguards agreement is disinformation. Between the end of 2004 and early 2007, Iran voluntarily complied with an additional protocol (Code 3.1) that was never ratified and never became a legal part of the safeguards agreement. The additional protocol would have required Iran to notify the IAEA prior to beginning construction of a new facility, whereas the safeguards agreement in force requires notification prior to completion of a new facility.

Iran ceased its voluntary compliance with the unratified additional protocol in March 2007, most likely because of the American and Israeli misrepresentations of Iran's existing facilities and military threats against them.

By accusing Iran of having a secret "nuclear weapons program" and demanding that Iran "come clean" about the nonexistent program, adding that he does not rule out a military attack on Iran, Obama mimics the discredited Bush regime's use of nonexistent Iraqi "weapons of mass destruction" to set up Iraq for invasion.

The U.S. media, even the "liberal" National Public Radio, quickly fell in with the Obama lie machine. Steven Thomma of the McClatchy Newspapers declared the non-operational facility under construction, which Iran reported to the IAEA, to be "a secret nuclear facility."

Thomma reported incorrectly that the world didn't learn of Iran's "secret" facility, the one that Iran reported to the IAEA the previous Monday, until Obama announced it in a joint appearance in Pittsburgh the following Friday with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Obviously, Thomma has no command over the facts, a routine inadequacy of "mainstream media" reporters. The new facility was revealed when Iran voluntarily reported the facility to the IAEA on Sept. 21.

Ali Akbar Dareini, an Associated Press writer, reported, incorrectly, over AP: "The presence of a second uranium-enrichment site that could potentially produce material for a nuclear weapon has provided one of the strongest indications yet that Iran has something to hide."

Dareini goes on to write that "the existence of the secret site was first revealed by Western intelligence officials and diplomats on Friday." Dareini is mistaken. We learned of the facility when the IAEA announced that Iran had reported the facility the previous Monday in keeping with the safeguards agreement.

Dareini's untruthful report of "a secret underground uranium enrichment facility whose existence has been hidden from international inspectors for years" helped to heighten the orchestrated alarm.

There you have it. The president of the United States and his European puppets are doing what they do best—lying through their teeth. The U.S. "mainstream media" repeats the lies as if they were facts. The U.S. "media" is again making itself an accomplice to wars based on fabrications. Apparently, the media's main interest is to please the U.S. government and hopefully obtain a taxpayer bailout of its failing print operations.

Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, a rare man of principle who has not sold his integrity to the U.S. and Israeli governments, refuted in his report (Sept. 7, 2009) the baseless

accusations that information has been withheld from the Board of Governors about Iran's nuclear programme. I am dismayed by the allegations of some member states, which have been fed to the media, that information has been withheld from the Board. These allegations are politically motivated and totally baseless. Such attempts to influence the work of the Secretariat and undermine its independence and objectivity are in violation of Article VII.F. of the IAEA Statute and should cease forthwith.

As there is no legal basis for action against Iran, the Obama regime is creating another hoax, like the nonexistent "Iraqi weapons of mass destruction." The hoax is that a facility, reported to the IAEA by Iran, is a secret facility for making nuclear weapons.

Just as the factual reports from the weapons inspectors in Iraq were ignored by the Bush regime, the factual reports from the IAEA are ignored by the Obama regime.

Like the Bush regime, the Middle East policy of the Obama regime is based in lies and deception.

Who is the worst enemy of the American people, Iran or the government in Washington and the media whores who serve it?

  1. Supposedly, this new site at Qom was known to the Bush administartion several years ago but, for unexplained reasons, was not "revealed" until now. Assuming this is true--and it's a big assumption--the question is, why wait if the situation is as dire as the Bushies and Obamites claim? Ironically, it looks as if Obama, in playing his game of public intransigience and private acquiescence with the Israelis, is in fact prodding them toward an air strike on the Iranian facilities at Qom and Natanz. When this happens, the entire Mideast, Near East, and Horn of Africa will begin burning. Paranoid fantasy? Paranoia and common sense come together as the world goes insane.

  2. Our elite is behaving likje what it is---the ruling class of an empire. In an empire people are not citizens but expendable material, and policy is not for the benefit of the country but for the benefit of the imperial machine.

  3. So will we have war against Iran or won't we? The Iranian regime is already offering a substantial concession - to export any uranium that needs to be enriched past 5% to Russia for further processing. Thus the rulers are agreeing to what they said they would never agree to - giving up Iran's rights under the NPT to use the full fuel cycle for peaceful purposes. I'm sure they feel they have no choice but to make this concession. Still their humility and meekness is to be admired; the first duty of a regime is to preserve the lives of its subjects, not to stand up to international bullies.

Unhappily, these concessions may do the Iranians little good. The warlords of Washington and Jerusalem are determined to destroy the present Iranian regime and its supporters and subjugate whatever Persians survive to western liberal so-called values. I fear the neocons and Zionists will simply make more demands until the Iranians can concede no more. Or they will use or even contrive some terrorist attack as an excuse to attack the Persians.

  4. 1. Iran will not be attacked unless it has functional nuclear weapons because it has threatened the destruction of Israel. These threats are a matter of record known to all the readers here. Although the author has read them he chose to ignore them. 2. It is baffling that the author continues to portray Iran as this lovely bucolic place where the Jihadists are legalists who mean noone any harm but in fact spread love and peace and where after all, they produce such lovely movies. These are self serving delusions of the first order. 3. It is absurd to claim that the USA is wrong because we have somehow angered the Islamic world and that this is why they are at war with us and why we should back off. These people are barbarians, marrying first cousins, stoning women to death or marrying them at the age of twelve, cutting people's hands off and the list of barbaric practices can go on and on. If this kind of culture is in our enemy then it should perish.4. This attitude of some Paleos that while they want to fight the expansion of Islam and the international Jihad, but find reasons to object when the fight is actually on is absurd. To these paleos it all becomes irrelevant once they detect and rationalize the presence of conspiracy of the international Jewish bankers, the real culprits of everything that is wrong with the world. Talk about not giving up the ghost.

  5. "iran will not be attacked unless it has functional nuclear weapons because it has threatened the destruction of Israel. These threats are a matter of record known to all the readers here. Although the author has read them he chose to ignore them."

Apart from Ahmadinejad's quoting Khomeni that "this Occupation regime over Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time", what "destruction of Israel" threats are you talking about?

  6. A recently discovered site at Qom, eh? How jolly convenient! So Israel is going to blow up the primo Persian madrassa. Or better yet, they'll con con the stupid Yankee administrration into doing their dirty work for them. This is a false flag operation in the making, it's all about oil, and the American taxpayer will foot the bill -- provided we can survive as a nation.

  7. "These threats are a matter of record known to all the readers here."

Nonsense. I've never heard anyone who could be considered a spokesman for the government of Iran make any threat whatsoever toward Israel. You probably haven't either, but I'd have no trouble believing that you heard some dimwitted American pundit on TV make that claim.

That's the trouble with getting all one's information from TV. It makes one go around knowing a lot of things that just ain't so.

  8. Mr. Gervaise is correct....it is all about controlling oil supplies in the Middle East using any political pretext as an excuse and eliminating any threat to Israeli supremacy in the Middle East. Even if the Iranians overthrew the mullhas tomorrow, the pressure to control Iran would be the same through other proxy means. The 'USA nation' is now part of the NWO and our politicians are its puppets, hence the lying, deceit and yes.......treasonable and despicable behavior.

  9. War may be the only choice. These cretins are a threat to stability and are always threatening someone with military action. The regime is dominated by radicals and a regime change is the only way any kind of sanity will be restored. By the way, I am talking about Washington.

"One, two, three, what are fightin' for? Don't ask me I don't give a damn. The next stop is I-RAN..." etc etc.

  10. Three cheers for Mr. Bailey! I wholeheartedly agree. PCR fails to recognize the utter barbarism of the Iranian people. To think that a society would deem it appropriate for sexually mature “teenage” women to get married and begin to produce children during the years that nature (and nature’s God) have made them most fertile—how shocking! Doesn’t PCR (not to mention all those America-hating imams!) know that civilized societies encourage their teenage girls to spend the first twenty years of their reproductive lives fornicating and having as many partners as they possibly can. That, after all, is why God gave us the Pill and abortions. Then once these nubile Iranian “girls” have been forced to get married and accept the support that their Iranian husbands provide for them (NB Iran is not yet enlightened enough to force women into the workplace) and their children, they are punished if they commit adultery. What a backwards nation! Why only barbarians such as the Israelites, Romans, and Athenians punish adultery with death. Enlightened nations such as ours deal in a more humane way with adulterous wives. If they are caught, they are allowed to divorce their cuckolded husbands, take his children away, and then force him to support them with their new series of lovers. As for the utter barbarity of marrying their first cousins, I’m at a loss for words.

The Iranians even punish people for committing crimes such as theft by cutting off their hands (I know it happens—I saw it in a Robin Hood movie), totally ignoring the wonderful innovations we have made in our own American penal system (NB PCR is terrible on this one too). In America when you commit a crime such as possession of a few ounces of marijuana you are sent to a prison to be raped for the next twenty years and join a prison gang. Then when you come out of prison you have a built in support network, your gang on the outside, and a wealth of career opportunities: grand theft, drug trafficking, extortion, murder.

PCR should know better; for shame! When is Chronicles going to get with it and replace PCR with William Kristol?

  11. I'm sad to say that I have absolutely no clue who is telling the truth about what anymore. The world has gotten very confusing.

But I do think it is mighty suspicious that a man of Obama's dubious work experience and professional background could seem to be so knowledgeable about Iran's nuclear issues. My feeling is that Obama doesn't know squat about the issue and he's being told what to believe by people behind the scenes.

  12. @Jack Bailey: So, Jack, I take it, then, you're fluent and Farsi and know precisely what Ahmadinejad said? Or, like most supporters of war against Iran, do you only know what the papers said Ahmadinejad said?

Since it's clear the neo-cons have lied to us to get us into illegal wars in AfPak, only a fool would believe they wouldn't happily do it again to get us into another.

Perhaps you've heard: Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it? While everyone remembers the historical lesson of Vietnam, has everyone already forgotten the more recent historical lesson that lying is an acceptable modus operandi for the neo-con true believer?

  13. If there were only American nukes in the world, that would be a fatal imbalance. If there were only Indian, or Pakistani, for that matter, nukes in the Middle East, that would also be a fatal imbalance. Now, with maybe 200 nukes in its arsenal, Israel is the third nuclear power in the world and the only one in the Middle East; that's a fatal imbalance definitely, and some of the Middle East countries will try to correct it, sooner or later.

  14. "War may be the only choice. These cretins are a threat to stability and are always threatening someone with military action"

How bizarre. Iran has not invaded another country since long before the Revolution. Meanwhile in that time the United States has bombed, invaded and threatened to destroy countless countries - far, far more than any other nation on earth. If any nation is a threat to stability, if any nation is "always threatening someone with military action" it is the U.S., who is nearly *literally* "always threatening someone with military action".

The quoted post demonstrates the distorted way in which Americans view the world. It is utterly detached from reality.

  15. #13: You obviously missed my point. Read the last sentence of my post. I was referring to Washington as the "cretins and radicals," NOT Iran.

  16. Correction. Read the last sentence of my post before I lapsed into "song."

  17. Gah! I hope you accept my apology, Mr. Flinn.

    Mea culpa!

  18. No apology needed. I have plenty of my own mea culpas.

  19. "if any nation is “always threatening someone with military action” it is the U.S., who is nearly *literally* “always threatening someone with military action”

I would like to see your list of these nations so that I can review the history of the episode.
