Although defeated for now – and, one hopes, permanently – details are leaking out about the Obamatrade deal. Sen. Rand Paul revealed that it would increase taxes on small businesses. So much for the promises of House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell that it would create jobs for Americans. No wonder they’ve kept it secret.

And what about that Republican “no new taxes” pledge?

According to Paul:

“You know typically to pass these kinds of things, the establishment will try to buy off Democrats by sprinkling money so they have some money in there. To get the money, under our budget rules, we have to pay for it—so they want to pay for it with a fine on small businesses. But I thought a point that was made in the article which was pretty good is this is similar to the fines they wanted to do in Obamacare with 1099s and there was such an outcry it’s the only part of Obamacare we ever repealed. So I think when people discover they’re sticking a tax increase in there I think people will be even more unhappy.”

Despite that revelation, the Republican leaders in Congress are out for revenge against the members of their own party who sided with the American people instead of President Obama and the oligarchs. Reported National Journal:

“June 16, 2015 House Republican leaders are cracking down on rebellious members after a near-disaster on a trade vote last week, but another imperiled rule coming to the House floor Tuesday is making it difficult to punish the members who leaders need to pass the measure.

”Reps. Cynthia Lummis, Steve Pearce, and Trent Franks have been removed from the whip team after they sided with GOP rebels to vote against a rule governing debate on a trade bill, according to sources close to the team….

“Those close to Speaker John Boehner have long pushed their leaders to drop the hammer on members who do not act as team players, a fight that has gone back to the beginning of the year when two dozen members voted against Boehner for speaker.”

For Boehner and McConnell, the “team” isn’t America, but Team Oligarch. And this is just the kind of sellout to Obama that voters indicated they did not want when Republicans were given full control of Congress last November.
