Max K. Hurlbut has 35 years of law-enforcement experience, including serving 25 years with the LAPD (lieutenant’s badge no. 1), and as chief of police of Kodiak and tiny Whittier, Alaska, and as city marshal of Tombstone, Arizona. A retired lieutenant colonel, U.S. Army Special Forces, he holds an M.S. in criminal justice from Michigan State University and is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College. He is the author of Vagabond Policeman.
