So now we are told that Serbs were living in Serbia even before the birth of Christ? And not just before Christ, but even several thousand years before?

That's rich.
Maybe the Serbs built the amazing pyramids too?

Whether Albania existed before 1913 is of no importance. Serbia herself stopped being an ottoman vassal kingdom at about the same time. When did the last turkish garrison leave Belgrade?

It is not true that Serbia didn't fight those wars in Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Paper-wise and officially Serbia supposedly had nothing to do with them, but in reality she did. Everyone knows that.

As to the GDPs and per capita figures I made the same mistake as the poster who corrected me. My figures were old, from the 1990-ies. I sould have mentioned what year they were from. Things have moved on obviously. But we don't know what timeframe these new figures are from?

This debate is about Kosovo, should it stay or should it go. Most Serbs seem keen on keeping it. For what if I may ask? To ethnically cleanse it of Albanians? To send them "back to Turkey", a country that has nothing to do with Albanians? OK. After you get to "purify" it from these people, what then?

What will you do with that empty Kosovo?

Serbia herself is very far from being an ordered model country. Even with the new figures provided by Philip Davies here above, Serbia is obviously not only far behind european standards, but far behind its neighbors in the Balkans. What does she need more territory for?

If you guys were the least smart you'd realize that Kosovo is not winnable. No matter what some slick politician tells you. Cut your costs and just leave.

Then start doing what you should have started doing long ago. Grab reality by the horns and start building a real and decent culture. So far from the present old-bitter-woman style of accusations, lies and half-truths as possible. Become real men and decent people.

You will then notice that you'll get support from decent countries and not just from Russia, which is even in a sorrier state than Serbia. Also, you'd not have to associate with mindless american fringe groups who you've managed to bullshit into believing everything you say.

Good luck and over and out.

Ilya Pavlovich - I never implied that the Balkans were empty until the arrival of the Slavs, but I am interested in reading the information you have about a different idea of Serbian settlement in the Balkans.

My information comes from Hungarian archaeologists who are excavating home sites and correlating those home styles with those found in the Carpathian Mountains and the Pripyet Marsh region as well as tools and other artifacts.

It is not unrealistic to think that present day Serbs are a result of Slavic migration AND indigenous peoples plus other conquered peoples. Serbs, particularly Montenegrins, show marked physical differences from other southern Slavs, particularly in height.

As we know, it is a muslim strategy to destroy cultural heritage so that they can brainwash their people into believing in their claims to territory throughout the world. Look what they are doing to the ancient archaeological sites in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I happened to stumble across this message board after reading the article on Kostunica. I did not come as a professor or a politician or a big PhD intellect, I instead came to this forum out of frustration after reading "some" of the comments. I knew I had to post something that is very close to my heart. Don't believe the lies that are fluttering your brains about the "Greater Albanian" experiment. I agree in entirety with Mr. Ilija Pavlovic and P. Stewart. Kosovo has become a hotbed for drug trafficking, mostly opium that comes from Afghanistan, and also child prostitution. If you look at a map you will see that Serbia (Kosovo included) is a destination route from Asia Minor to Europe Proper. The drug ring in Kosovo is what is fueling the Albanian hunger for independence. I must add that Kosovo has become a major mafia underground black market. Dan Reynolds look up your demographics facts and see how the population of Kosovo was a hundreds of years back. Albania is a poor country, Kosovo is even more poor, how can a country like that be independent? I am so deeply confused at the world's views of Serbs and our holy Orthodox Christian religion. Kosovo is the heart of Serbia and it shall stay like that.

Do you see the demographic shifts? ARE WE THE INVADERS? Anyways, let peace prevail.
