Lynching George Zimmerman
"I only know what I read in the papers." Will Rogers was a master ironist, and when he made and repeated this assertion, he seemed to be saying several things. As a friend of the powerful and famous, he was frequently asked serious political questions, which this modest reply deflected. But also, by implication, anyone who relied on the press or-- as we would now say--the media for news really knew nothing. Only the people who write, edit, and publish the stories are in a position to know whether or not they are telling the truth, and even the press lords and their lackeys are remarkably indifferent to the facts.
People who only know what they read in the papers or see on television or learn by tweeting are, nonetheless, all too willing to make sweeping judgments. For weeks, nearly everyone in America knows that George Zimmerman, a paranoid white bigot who obsessively calls 911 to voice his suspicions, brutally murdered a harmless "little boy" named Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman, whose claim to be a neighborhood watchman is suspect, was explicitly ordered by the police not to follow Martin. He persisted, and though the harmless child was armed only with a pack of skittles, Zimmerman attacked him and either shot him in cold blood or in the course of a struggle that he initiated.
At least one 911 call includes the sound of someone screaming in panic, and members of Trayvon's family claim that we are hearing the voice of a young man facing death.
The fact that Zimmerman was not arrested just goes to show how racist the Florida cops still are, and, since Zimmerman pursued the unarmed boy against police orders and accosted him, he cannot claim protection under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" statute. "He should have called 911 instead of going after Trayvon."
That is pretty much the story put out by Big Media, but in the mouth of the Revs Jackson and Sharpton and Farrakhan, the shooting of Trayvon Martin is metaphor for black/white relations in America. When Farrakhan came to Rockford to stir up anger and violence over a case in which police shot a fugitive, he declared that it is open season on black men in America.
Even the President of the United States could not resist sticking his oar in:
“I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this,” Mr. Obama said. “All of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen.
“Obviously, this is a tragedy. I can only imagine what these parents are going through,” Mr. Obama said, his face grim. “When I think about this boy, I think about my own kids.”
“You know, if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” Mr. Obama said, pausing for a moment. “I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves and we are going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.”
If we unpack his flabby rhetoric, Mr. Obama is saying, first, that he knows the facts of the case enough to know that a brutal murder has been committed and that, second, his sympathies are engaged because the victim is black.
When on our Friday radio show Paul Youngblood and I tried to raise questions about the official media account of the case, caller after caller angrily demanded why we were defending a murderer. When we pointed out that nearly everything the callers were saying was incorrect, their response was to say, "You guys are sick."
The New Black Panthers say they are so convinced of the facts in the case that they are offering a $10,000 bounty for the "capture" of George Zimmerman.
Some white nationalists, it goes without saying, are happy the young man was shot. His skin color by itself is proof of guilt. How such people are any different from the Sharptons and Farrakhans, I simply do not know. They are, however, proof that skin color is not everything.
Let us start with a few basic facts in the case.
1. George Zimmerman is a member of his neighborhood watch association and regularly patrols the streets. For this reason he has frequently called 911 to report burglaries and suspicious persons. The mere fact that his group does not belong to this or that consortium of neighborhood associations. The neighborhood has, in fact, been plagued by burglaries, and the neighborhood association advised people to call the police first and then George Zimmerman:
"If you've been the victim of a crime within the community, after calling the police, please contact our captain, George Zimmerman ... so we can be aware and help address the issue with other residents," the newsletter said. It added that the neighborhood watch group was looking for more participants at its monthly meetings."
That is what he did on February 26. When the 911 dispatcher learned that George was following the suspect, he advised him": "We don't need you to do that." In other words, it was a suggestion and it did not come from the police. If you listen to other calls made that night, you hear similar advice being given people who witnessed the fatal struggle. "We don't need you to go outside," advised one dispatcher. Obviously, the intent is to protect the person being spoken to--and to absolve 911 from any responsibility for what might happen.
2. Zimmerman is not a white bigot, but a half-Hispanic. His father says they have black relatives by marriage. George is praised by a neighbor, Samantha Leigh Hamilton, who told the local television news that "she once left her garage door up and Zimmerman noticed it while out walking his dog. He notified another neighbor, who let Hamilton know.
" 'The only impression I have of George Zimmerman is a good one,'" Hamilton said Wednesday.
"Hamilton said another neighbor, a black woman, would regularly inform Zimmerman when she was out of town so that he could keep an eye on her place. Hamilton said that when she moved into the middle-class, racially mixed community of about 250 identical townhouses, the black neighbor told her, "Hey, if you need anything, you picked a really good area, since George is part of our neighborhood watch."
Hamilton said there had been several break-ins in the past year, including one three doors away in which burglars took a TV and laptops.
"When I hear about him calling the police constantly, it kind of makes sense to me because we had so many break-ins recently," she said.
One of Zimmerman's friends, Joe Oliver, is a formed news anchorman. As a black man, he says, he never perceived any racism on Zimmerman's part. In fact, Zimmerman and his wife have "mentored" a black family whose members are very grateful for their help.
Much has been made of two criminal charges against Zimmerman. In one case, he touched a policeman who was arresting a friend; in the other, his girlfriend or wife made a domestic battery complaint that faded away into the mists of "he said/she said" marital squabbles. If, as is alleged, the woman in question is his current wife, it was obviously not very serious.
3. Trayvon Martin is 6'3" and a former football player. Nearly all the pictures being circulated show a smiling young kid, but they are several years out of date. More recent pictures show a sullen young man in a gangsta hoodie, definitely not good PR material. Family members described Trayvon as a good student; friends are more likely to use the word average. He had been suspended from school for 10 days, which is why he was staying with his father's girlfriend. According to the police in an Orlando Sentinel story, he was suspended for possession of an emptied marijuana baggie and a pipe.
If we can believe researchers who have gone over Facebook and Twitter accounts linked to Trayvon and his friends, he already had two tatoos, a gold tooth, and a reputation as someone to supply dope. His handle is interesting: @NO_LIMIT_NIGGA. For this and other possibly relevant details, see this unverified story. His friends, by the way, assume that he was giving George Zimmerman a beating when he was shot, and one refers to an alleged attack made by Trayvon on a busdriver.
All in all, the evidence of his social networking paints a picture of a budding thug. That by no means indicates any guilt on his part--we do not have a right to shoot young black males who have adopted a gangsta style--but it does begin to suggest a rather different possible scenario.
4. Let us look at the incident itself. When George calls the 911 number, he sounds calm and unaggressive though naturally concerned: "This guy looks like he is up to no good. He is on drugs or something." He added that the person had his hand in his waistband, was holding something in his other hand, and was walking around slowly in the rain looking at houses.
While he is giving directions for the police, George apparently thinks the guy has spotted him: "He's coming to check me out." He is probably correct, since Trayvon then heads into the backyard of a house.
What happens in the next minute or two is not entirely clear. George had left his SUV and was trying to discover the whereabouts of the suspicious person. He may have been following him or even accosted him, but we do not know. What Zimmerman told the police, though, is that as he was returning to his car, he was approached by the young man. Let me quote directly from the Orlando Sentinel:
"Zimmerman told them he lost sight of Trayvon and was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon approached him from the left rear, and they exchanged words.
Trayvon asked Zimmerman if he had a problem. Zimmerman said no and reached for his cell phone, he told police. Trayvon then said, "Well, you do now" or something similar and punched Zimmerman in the nose, according to the account he gave police.
Zimmerman fell to the ground and Trayvon got on top of him and began slamming his head into the sidewalk, he told police.
Zimmerman began yelling for help.
Several witnesses heard those cries, and there has been a dispute about whether they came from Zimmerman or Trayvon.
Lawyers for Trayvon's family say it was Trayvon, but police say their evidence indicates it was Zimmerman.
One witness, who has since talked to local television news reporters, told police he saw Zimmerman on the ground with Trayvon on top, pounding him — and was unequivocal that it was Zimmerman who was crying for help.
Zimmerman then shot Trayvon once in the chest at very close range, according to authorities.
When police arrived less than two minutes later, Zimmerman was bleeding from the nose, had a swollen lip and had bloody lacerations to the back of his head."
No witnesses have yet confirmed or disputed Zimmerman's account of the beginning of the encounter, but, as you have read, one witness has confirmed his description of being beaten by Trayvon. Another detail it would be good to clear up is whether Zimmerman drew his gun and shot or the gun went off in the course of the struggle, as the interview with Joe Oliver seems to indicate.

Good analysis. Sadly, some of those on the right are falling into the 'he deserved to die' defense of Zimmerman, and I glad you didnt fall into that trap.
I am glad to see a return to the old Fleming. The Daily Mail seems to want you to confine your columns to 'topical' pieces that would interest the MSM, not as much the usual fair targeted more toward Chronicles readers (though I admit, I had to let all my magazine subscriptions lapse for financial reasons).
I pointed out some of the holes in the story to my editor at the LDM, and he invited me to write it up. Their legal department, however, makes it difficult to deal with these issues in a straightforward fashion. I supplied some links and some analysis and I am hoping they will be the first paper to scoop the story.
The white bigot response is as stupid and generally uninformed as the black bigot response.

The media is the message. Whereas it once was the highbrow Church today all issues are morally framed by the lowbrow mass media. Which subsequently today holds the social status position of moral authority. The social hierarchy is emotions morality intellect; with morality yes as the appropriate middleman so to speak. But the masses although possessing native intelligence, their intellect is so underdeveloped they naturally don't go there very often. So once any issue has been morally framed regardless of the facts, the callers to the radio station will perceive you as either evil or sick since they have already been 'morally' informed. That's why it's probably insane to allow such a monopoly of the media and airwaves as is the case today.
Believe me, Fleming, I will as soon as possible.
I just listened to last week's radio program - absolutely incredible. Anti-white caller after caller, proving nothing more than that they are slaves to whatever the media tells them - even including their talking points - "he was armed only with a bag of skittles". Bad faith is always assumed on the part of white authorities. That one caller you guys cut off did make a good point - many non whites in this country think that behind closed doors we are high fiving each other whenever something like this happens.
Three amusing or not-so amusing developments.
1) Trayvon Martin's mother has moved to gain copyright protection for the name and for such slogans as "I am Trayvon." It's purely in the interest of humanity and justice, of course.
2) North Miami high school students who took the day off to declare, "I am Trayvon," ran riot in a Walgreen's they proceeded to loot until a vice principal took charge and ordered them out.
3) Spike Lee tweeted to his hundreds of thousands of friends and fans the address of George Zimmerman, obviously expecting them to "do the right thing" on a grander scale than the students in Walgreens. Unfortunately, Spike is as competent at getting facts right as he is in making movies. His angry fans have started persecuting a poor woman who does not even live in Zimmerman's gated community.
The mainstream press continues to orchestrate Orwellian hate sessions, but will they or Spike Lee or the New Black Panthers ever be called to account for their destructive hate-mongering? Not in this Obamastan.
White liberals generally do not view blacks or other non-whites as moral actors, and thus ultimately not responsible for their actions. To the white liberals, black radicals like Spike Lee and Mikhail Muhammad are just reacting (albeit in a perhaps extreme manner) to institutional white racism. The real actors in the Manichean world of white liberals are white conservatives, who are always evil, reactionary, and ultimately fascist, wanting to continuously oppress blacks, Hispanics, woman, and homosexuals; and white liberals, who are always noble and good and ever fighting to ennoble and uplift the oppressed non-white masses.
Not my position to comment on the case, or that of anyone who wasn't there or did not witness it firsthand.
That said, I am baffled by the POTUS response to the incident.
It is not the position of the executive leader of a government to pass judgment on a case before it has even been solved. He is not a substitute for the police. Moreover, executive leaders should know their limits - they merely execute what their legislators tell them to execute on governmental matters only. They are not mullahs or ayotollahs or spiritual leaders who are to comment directly to people and community on their personal or communal matters.
The only other kind of person who comments on ongoing investigations or tries to appoint himself as a leader on the sanctioned response to community problems is....Vladimir Putin. And Putin is a megalomaniac who builds a cult of personality and pushes to be a leader going beyond any constitutional limitations.
It's worth remembering that Bush Jr., Sarkozy, Cameron, Harper, Merkel,.etc (for all their virtues or vices) have not been like this at all. Only Obama and Putin are.
In this twilight and rebirth of Western Civilization there's all kinds of characters, actors, producers etc. Obama or really Barry v. Putin equal and opposite reActors one to another; actual Christian persecution as in the old Roman empire prior to its becoming the empire's official religion. Let me guess, since all I know comes from the papers, personal experience, smart people on the Internet and the FBI crime stats. It was the white guy on the grassy knoll. But, because the white establishment will cover up this massacre, we will never know for sure. Here's a question for anyone, were the burglary sites dusted for fingerprints? Too expensive to dust for prints I was told after being robbed, but I don't live in a 'gated community'. Can the prints, if any, be matched to anyone in this show? It's been speculated that the white Hispanic fellow was not on his way to his car, or not on his way home or something. The suggestion being that he may have stalked his quarry. Where in his route to 'get skittles', was the young black honor student? Was he on a direct route back home? Did he buy skittles? Can the probably undocumented person of alien heritage store manager confirm this? Is the store manager dead? Did the CIA kill or drug the store manager?
Never mind, this white Hispanic skin head dude was a neighborhood watch captain, trusted by his peers and on patrol. He was even trusted with a gun. Jeepers. The watchman called in a report of a suspicious person. Soon thereafter, the young white black hero allegedly gave the watchman a broken nose and some cuts and bruises. For which the watchman allegedly shot him dead.
I don't think it matters if the watchman followed the suspicious person or if the 'following' provoked the attack. The watchman was on patrol, doing his job and following does not justify a mugging. And, it's too bad he needed to shoot that kid. Next time, he will remember to wait for the White, Black, Red, Yellow, Hispanic, French-Canadian, LGBT police and let them do the shooting. Sorry, forgot to mention the Cubans.
The pro-Zimmerman cartoon from the Daily Texan is causing a stir
The Trayvon Martin story touches me in many ways. Some background: I live (have lived all my life) in an all black neighborhood. By "all black", I mean that when I go outside my door, I see nothing but African Americans. There could be no Trayvon Martin situation here, because my world is all Trayvon all the time. In fact, my situation is almost a mirror image of the one he was in; one could be forgiven for wondering (and cops have often asked me) what a lone, grizzled white guy is up to in a place where he seemingly doesn't belong. But, as I've learned when I try to bring up my unique vantage point to make an observation on race relations, white liberals reject my experience as merely anecdotal, and as for racists, they won't trust anyone who deals with blacks. I straddle the grey area, so to speak, between the white and black worlds.
Now the Martin shooting illustrates at least two of the problems that confront me on a daily basis: how to prepare for defense; and how to read the signs of a situation about to explode.
To carry or not to carry, that is the question that has always bedeviled me; without divulging whether I do or don't go about armed, let's suppose I am carrying a gun – am I not more likely to use it? Here is the conundrum as I see it: whites who go armed in all-white or nearly all-white localities actually have little need for the gun, but seem more prone to using it when they feel threatened; whereas a white in my situation has so many threatening or potentially threatening situations to deal with, a shooting seems almost inevitable. But since escape after a shooting, when the streets for literally miles in any direction are black territory, would be perilous, and simply ducking into one's house is to lead the danger straight to one's family, this militates against shooting. Hence, a gun seems to be almost useless in this context.
On the second point, if the instant mobs forming over Martin are any indication, how much longer can I survive, surrounded by people who may explode in anti-white violence at any moment? Not for the first time, the analogy with those European Jews who continued to feel safe even as the Nazis drew up plans for their extermination suggests itself. I don't know how much of the Holocaust story is true and how much may be laid to Zionist propaganda, but the Wannsee Conference is factual, and if it can be imagined, it is a long way toward happening. I've never had any trouble imagining myself in the scene from the Pawnbroker where Rod Steiger's family is scooped up and bundled off for the camps in the middle of an idyllic country picnic. And I have to say I thoroughly disagree with Pat Buchanan's statement, in his current article, that Martin "had a right to be enraged" with Zimmerman. When blacks account for 85% of violent interracial crime – for example, raping whites (women AND MEN!) at a rate of 17 to one over white on black rape – (see The Color Of Crime) whites must respond accordingly, and blacks must accept these consequences. As I always say, the formula black power advocates chant: "No justice, no peace!", has it exactly backwards. Those who will not live in peace, can expect scant justice.
That said, Zimmerman, let's say, may not have handled the situation well. But how many white people have the opportunity I have, to hone the assessment skills necessary for these incidents? Because of where I live, I've become adept at quickly sizing up the intent, capability and intangibles involved in a black/white confrontation. This takes years, constant practice, steady nerves, faith in God, and perhaps a dash of leftover youthful romantic illusion, not necessarily in that order.
Finally, the bigots and race-haters can certainly be stupid, but they have one thing right. The onus is on blacks to prove they can be trusted.

Ultimately it is about living creaturely in a created order, living "naturally" with the idiosyncrasies of other critters. The antithesis of living creaturely is to attempt to live according to the abstract principles of liberalism, such as "all men and races are equal," gender is meaningless, every language can convey all things equally, etc.
Getting along with chickens was learning to live creaturely for me as a little boy growing up in Louisiana. It was dangerous to enter the chicken yard if you did not know your chickens: their moods, their gestures and their group dynamic. One had to live creaturely with cows, particularly if there were a bull around. It was not prudent to enter his domain if cows were "in heat." One had to learn to sense that; they do not wear signs.
Learning to live creaturely is how we get along in families. My mother's great grandmother was a Choctaw. Choctaw women were known for "enjoying" skinning captives alive, burning them, disemboweling them, etc. From time to time, when I came home from college, my father would warn as I came in the door "Your mama's in a Choctaw mood." That meant that my "button pushing," often but not always unintended, could bring disharmony to the household. I would be held accountable for the disharmony although it was my mother's Choctaw mood.
Learning to live, really live, and work among blacks takes the same creaturely awareness. The same is, however, true in the "redneck" community in which I am embedded and which is, in part, embedded in me. If one walks into a bar, just like walking into the chicken yard, one must "read" the clientele, particularly those one thinks to know. A misreading can lead to a fight, a broken body or a trip to the morgue.
Although I live in the country, we have an informal neighborhood watch. Most of us are armed to the teeth: conceal and carry, open carry, etc. Louisiana is defend your castle and defend your ground. None of us desire to kill or to be killed; but we are committed to defending not only our own home and hearth but also those of our neighbors.
Part of living creaturely is to develop an etiquette which allows one to hold the world at bay but to be prepared to extend charity. The stranger who might venture onto one's front porch (Very few real ones left!) is a potential threat to the household; but he is also as our Lord has taught us potentially in need of our charity and hospitality. It is the mark of a civilized society to have developed the necessary rituals, i.e. lesson learned, internalized and lived out by having lived creaturely, to simultaneously hold the world at bay, i.e. keep the stranger from crossing the threshold of the household, while weighing the need to extending charity and hospitality and consequentially taking the risk to invite the stranger over the threshold. Southern ladies of my mother's generation had mastered this important ritual and the associate skills. Liberalism has destroyed them and even made them taboo.

"...to hold the world at bay but be prepared to extend charity." There it is in a nutshell. For the liberals and the race-haters there is no dilemma. Just let them walk over you or never give 'em a chance.
I do (fondly) remember when, briefly, some Southerners came through my hood just ahead of the black wave. Stayed about two years before the blacks ran them out. And yes, you had to watch your words around them, too. But I've never forgotten how at home I felt with those Kentuckians, Alabamans and Tennesseeans, once I convinced them I didn't look down on them like most Northerners.

I assure you that those of us, us Southerners, who have not been infected by the therapeutic malaise of Modernity, and we as such are indeed a shrinking minority, are not very concerned that some look down on us. There are too many fish to catch, too many naps to take, too many stories to tell, too much work to do in the garden, too many good meals to fellowship around.

In the early 1990's, when I was in high school, the majority of our athletic conference was all-black schools, where we were the only mostly-white school. After a particularly contentious football game I was waiting for my parents to pick me up outside a local convenience store, where many of us of pre-driving age waited after sporting events to get a ride home. A car full of players/fans from the opposing team pulled up outside of the store and one asked me for the Coke and bag of chips that I was enjoying. I told him that he was more than welcome to purchase his own. He proceeded to pull a gun from his waist band and order me to hand over my Coke and potato chips. In the interest of continuing to breathe, I complied.
The middle class town of my youth bordered on an all-black city neighborhood that was/is one of the roughest in Pittsburgh. A few weeks after the convenience store episode, my friend's nine year old brother was playing on the swings at the community park when some marauding black teenagers from the adjacent neighborhood hit him in the face with a brick, breaking his nose and knocking out several teeth.
This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to black-on-white crimes that I have witnessed. I'm still waiting on Anderson Cooper's phone call for the piece he is doing about hate crimes in western Pennsylvania.
Without paying enough of a close attention to detail, and with absolutely zero bias, I know for a fact (I live in Palm Beach county, FL) that the crime is on the rise. The city of Miami laid off some 4000 policemen over the last year, hundreds of teachers, etc. etc. Florida's economy based on selling oranges and sunshine alone is no longer sufficient. I was surprised to see California ahead of us (Florida) in the line to go belly up. My bets were on Florida, Alabama, Mississippi - this is a traditionally poor part of the devastated deep south which has not recovered since the Civil war. More and more community associations are forming their own watch groups, and I am pretty sure they are not all perfectly well trained - but, since, need is the mother of invention, there isn't enough time to find the right father. Many of our crime watch groups are elderly and people who are barely trained enough just to observe and make a 911 call - that's about it. From the daily and weekly reports I would venture to state that about 75% + crime goes unsolved and un-addressed. Taking up arms and resorting to vigilantism is not too far off. Even Henry Kissinger stated just recently that the troubles are not too far away for the domestic implosion and advised "Americans to stockpile food and get well armed" - sorry I don't have the link for this quote but it was shocking enough for me to memorize it.

Living in a neighborhood where a great many of our problems can be laid to the fact that no father, right or otherwise, can be found for many, if not most, of the children, I can really savor this twist on the old line.
I have a question for all of you, please comment honestly if you have the moral value to do so.
1. If this was your child how would you feel. Would you accept the actions of the Sanford Police Dept.
2. If Mr. Zimmerman was a black man and the deceased was a white/chinese/hispanic male how would
you feel. Will your opinions be the same.

The language of feeling used in this query is highly inappropriate. In dealing rationally with a case of this type, we have to rely on evidence and reason. Feelings have little or nothing to do with it. What Sharpton, Jackson, Spike Lee, Roseann Barr, and the Big Media are doing is to play upon the feelings that short-circuit rationality and cloud the evidence.
The assumption of the question is that there is somehow obviously wrong in what Mr. Zimmerman did. Again, this plays on the media lies of a nice boy and good student shot down in cold blood by a big bad racist. But if the story is not true--as it appears not to be--then the underlying assumptions are wrong.
Let us seek a little clarity.
First, nothing in Zimmerman's background or in his 911 call--before it was doctored by NBC--indicates racial bigotry or an above-average propensity to violence. Mr/Ms P Ducks[worth?] asks, rather insultingly, if a change of race would alter our perception of the case. Obviously he/she has not read my piece, which is a plea for sanity and justice. Race is irrelevant to the facts. Let me put a counter-question to Mr/Ms P Ducks[worth?]: Are you as concerned for the over 95% of the cases of murdered blacks who are murdered by members of their own race or for the whites murdered by blacks (about double the number of blacks murdered by whites)?
I knew this country was in trouble, but imagine the sort of people who staff government positions when we have people like this Mr/Ms P Duck[worth?] working for the FCC and writing (or posing as writing) a thesis.
If I were the young man's parents, I would certainly desire a full investigation, but I would not hire a rabble-rousing lawyer to make reckless charges or stir up racial hatred right and left or copyright names and slogans with an eye to moneymaking opportunities.
For liberals and the liberal mind, it is always open season on anything civilized. The only time they appeal to the past is to justify their own desires --what ever that may be at a given moment in time. They are as contemptuous of their own as they are of others, gratitude for the very sciences and ethics they use to justify these desires, is not a concept familiar to them. They live, thrive, breed and exist with current events and slogans. This is no different for their best representatives as it is for their worst. Their prejudices, and prejudgments, are always the same and predictable --- the past is retrograde and bad, the facts are always conspired against them, the exotic, the future, the new, is ever expanding, liberating, and always leading towards a kind of liberal and communal heaven on earth -- consisting mostly of folks just like them.

I had posted the above post before reading your particular questions.
1) I have never met a parent of any race who could recieve enough information about the circumstances surrounding the death of their own child. This is, in my experience, always true. Some have tried to categorize and prioritize this quest in psychological stages such as shock, denial, anger, unmitigated greaving, foregiveness, and peace. Like any formula, it might outline something in measureable terms but it doesn't touch the qualitative aspects of a soul permanently scarred by such a loss. In the movie, The River Runs Through It, the old minister could never accumulate enough facts surrounding the death of his son, and no parent is ever satisfied with any such investigation. Reconstructions of car wrecks, murders, drug over doses, slips and falls, tragic accidents, etc. None of them are humanly satisfying in the end.
2) Yes, my opinion would be the same. My thoughts on crime and criminals are towards specific instances of conduct, under a particular set of circumstances. Horror and human depravity is everywhere and in all ages, I happen to believe it is grace and human beauty that seems more lacking in our own time.
Even granting my distance from the time and situation of the events, the accidental but unavoidable distorting of one's impressions which remoteness and the natural pregnancy of imagination produce, the danger of one's judgment being tainted by delusion from the frenzied misrepresentations, remonstrances and groundless, often fraudulent and malicious, conjectures of news-mongers and those innocently or bigotedly interested in such sordid crimes, superinduced by what is for me a contemptuous indifference, granted all of this I will hazard - in my lawyer-like fashion - an attempt of recapitulating the facts as generally affirmed:
1. A menacing Negro youth (whose menaces are naturally heightened by the evil reputation of the age and sex of his caste) is observed to be skulking about an enclosed suburb or "estate", and by his furtive or merely unusual presence and conduct attracts suspicion.
2. The observer of our fallen angel-child; a fat, overbusy, bumbling yet clearly benevolent Peruvian half-blood whose appearance of severe plainness (to write with more liberality than truth) and mediocrity no doubt impels him to act a part too heroic and daring for one of little, if any, virile talents, proving his worth and it must be said guarding his own and the common property of the private enclosure against the frequent larceny and vandalism it suffers - from juvenile Negroes -, is on service that night as a (self-appointed?) sentinel.
3. There then follows an altercation (of words), an affray (of fists and bodies), and in the distress and confusion of the brawl the Peruvian discharges his firearm killing the Negro skulker having already sustained powerful blows, and perhaps other outrages, from the strong youthful stranger (I'm overlooking the telephone calls as immaterial incidents to the primary chain of happenings).
4. The police, from caution or a sense of justice, forebear laying any restraint on the liberty of the Peruvian shooter whilst they inquire into the adolescent's death; this forebearance is deliberately, probably hostilely, exaggerated by the American press in New York into a tacit charge of careless irregularity, or active suppression of the facts and a shielding of the man out of burning race-hatred for Negroes. With the connivance, or instigation, of the press, Negro sinecure placemen either paid by the official State or unofficial branches of the State (what are laughably named "non-government organisations" despite their reliance on State funds or funds informally common to both State and 'NGOs' from the capitalist patrons of such agitation, i.e. globe-trotting Hungarian Jew George Soros) launch into frightful, almost seditious, tirades against the municipal police force (which comprises essentially powerless and ideologically uninformed working-class nobodies, hardly the second advent of Forrest's Klan) and "white people" in general as the wolf's tooth that ravages and bleeds the American Negro, and "Coloured" races, eternally and everwhere, whose image we the righteous spit upon as incarnations of Satan, etc, etc.
Killings, enslavements, rapes, indeed earth-shaking disasters - the destruction of entire cities or civilisations,the extermination of whole human races instantly or piecemeal: such things have happened many times before, and such things must happen many times again until all human life passes from this world. This boy's death is of no consequence even in his own locale.
What, are the bigoted 'anti-racist' fanatics fearful that we're about to witness the extinction of Negro adolescents? There are more than a billion of them, in Africa and without, with hundreds of millions of mixed-breeds too; at present it is an exhaustless spring with an indefatigable capacity to propogate and expand.
Trayvon's gone, but if you hungrily want a Negro youth don't worry, we can get a new one. There's more than enough.
P.S. Lest my recapitulation strike some here as redundant, or insolently intended to 'correct' Dr Fleming's own summary (which is of excellent and unobjectionable accuracy) I should explain my motive. It's useful when giving analytical opinion to relate the facts, however many times they've already been related. You can see that in my recapitulation I have copiously interlarded it with my own commentary which is the actual object of it, not to specify chronological or other particulars (as Dr Fleming has done because he has a more scientific object in mind unlike my own ironical declamations) which I believe are merely incidental to a humdrum case that is being magnified for race calumny and subversion by an alien interest that cares no one jot for 'urban youth' and their (natural and naturally permanent) wretchedness.
