Back on the Air

A few weeks ago, I hosted a local program on WNTA Radio for our new friend Paul Youngblood.  Paul has invited me to join him every Friday at 3.

Call (815) 874-8255 to take part in the discussion.  I'd like to help Paul make this the liveliest talk show from Chicago to Madison.

  1. An excellent program, Dr. Fleming. I especially enjoyed the discussion of the Declaration of Independence. I will certainly be listening every Friday on the internet.

p.s. I used to comment under the name "Edward."

  2. Are the programs archived anywhere? A quick search of their site turned up nothing.

  3. Went on, couldnt hear it. Tried not only the Chrome browser, but Firefox, Internet Explorer and their alternative stream. Even logged out of my Linux machine into Windows one, but I still got no sound. Disappointing. Maybe next week. Be nice if this Mr Youngblood would archive his program.

  4. Mr. Maxwell, Mr. Richert informed us on Facebook that no archives were available. Do you have the latest update for macromedia flash?

  5. I didn't have any trouble listening on my Windows Vista PC, but it will not work on an iPhone or iPad because it requires flash player, which is not supported by Apple.

  6. Yes, I think Dr Fleming should request a .wav file of the shows he does, or at least something of a more friendly format.

  7. Mr. Maxwell is the only person who has told us he has not been able to connect. I don't work for the station or for the company that owns it, and Paul Youngblood is neither an engineer nor the owner of Maverick Broadcasting. I don't know if local talk shows are typically archived. It is a pretty ephemeral medium, and I should think that recording shows would have an adverse effect, generally, on spontaneity. I am sure between now and Friday we can figure out what is going on.

  8. You misunderstand me. I am able to connect, and indeed I heard the pre-show advertisement, but once the connection to the show is made I have no audio. As I said, I tried a variety of different machines/mediums and it was the same result.

Could possibly have just something network related on my end, but that seems unlikely. We'll see what happens next week.

EDIT: Now I hear their current show. I hope it isnt just Youngblood's that I get no audio on.

  9. I have made it through as a caller twice now. One problem I see with the way the show is run, is that a caller gets about 3 sentences before being shut down and hung up on. This makes it impossible for callers to really enter in to the normally lively conversation between Dr. Fleming and Paul Youngblood.

  10. I don't know what happened that Mr. Maxwell could not hear it. It may have something to do with the remote studio on State Street, which is a little different. Youngblood does drop callers quickly in an effort to keep the ranters from ruining the show. The next time Steve or another reader I recognize calls, I'll signal to keep him on the line a bit longer. Tomorrow from 3-5 we shall probably discuss California's proposal to give special attention in textbooks to Gays and Transgenders and then the new airline security panic about people stuffing their body with explosives. TSA exams that take account of this new terror should require a gynecologist for women and perhaps a proctologist for men. We may move on to Mr. Leal's impending execution in Texas, which the ICJ and Obama are trying to stop.

  11. Same issue yesterday. Tuned in, no audio, although I got it for some (but not all) of their other shows. Very frustrating, as I'd probably have called in and participated in the discussion.

I still hope maybe at some point some kind of past shows can be archived, so we can at least hear old shows.
