Red,
Good to see you back posting here. I always enjoy your comments and keep tehn coming. I knew what you were saying and for the most part agree with your practical approach. I was not irritated with you but more of the simpletons at VDARE who are like watching a one trick pony.

robert II, I don't think your response really addresses my point. CW suggested that the Johnny-come-lately immigration restrictionists use the argument that continued immigration does not bode well for the viability of the Republican Party. I suggested that if they did that would be an improvement. I make that argument as a way of appealing to the sensibilities of Republican voters, but I seldom see anyone else making that argument, and I'm sure CW wasn't referring to little ol' me. What I usually see is a lot of multicult fetishist liberals dancing on the demographic grave of the GOP (and implicitly the flyover country white folks who vote for it) especially after Obama's victory, and squeamish GOP voters who refuse to or are incapable of recognizing the truth of the liberals' insight. Whatever momentary backlash there may be to Obama and resurgence of the GOP as a result can only be a temporary blip if current demographic trends continue.

While I can understand frustration with the Republican Party and the sentiment that we would be better off without it, that assumes it is replaced by a more authentically conservative party. But the new immigrants are not going to be voting for the Constitution Party out of frustration with the GOP. They will be voting for more of the same multicult fetishism that got us into this mess in the first place.

Speaking of proposition nationhood, does anyone have any sources as to its origins? The concept seems to have surfaced only in the 20th century, and at first applied only to the US, but now its applied to every ethnic European state.

#10. Mr. Marino, being assimilated to what? It is possible for immigrants to adopt modern "American" culture -- consumerism, individualism, liberalism, and so on -- and yet still see themselves as being separate from whites. As far as I can tell, the ideology of the proposition nation, by itself, does not do away with the possibility of balkanization.

“the threat Third World immigrants pose to the future of the Republican Party”

Mr.Phillips this is an argument in favor of open borders not an argument against it. Until the anti-immigration crowd admits that Americans have contracepted and aborted their way across the border, I grow weary rather quickly of their rantings and ravings. The strength and core of American culture has grown tired of life. Circling the wagons may help them for another night or two against invaders but our middle class Master's philosophy was doomed long ago when Boston, Mass and not Biloxi, Mississippi was considered the standard bearer of American culture. The Puritans of New England first lost their reason, then their faith and finally their country. To hell with their hysteria, their daily worship services at the altars of High Finance and Globalism and other false gods, bring on Our Lady of Guadelupe, Mother of God, Empress of the Americas full of grace and beauty.

"the threat Third World immigrants pose to the future of the Republican Party"

If only. We can't even get the knuckleheaded Republicans babbling about comprehensive immigration reform to recognize that current immigration trends, legal and illegal, dome the GOP to political irrelevancy. It would be a big step forward if we could get then to acknowledge that. Instead we hear about better outreach.

At this late date, the debate seems pointless. What's done is done, people should focus on assimilation efforts. Mr Williamson should relax and have a drink or several.
