Call Me Simple . . . (2)

But I don't understand:

How  all those “experts” who are always mouthing off in the media and who are not really experts manage to get on the air.

Why people can’t tell the difference between speculation and investment.

Why sports are not as much fun as they used to be and seem to make people hateful and violent instead of happy and enthusiastic.

Why most of the poeople who tell me I should do more for the disadvantaged seem to be rich and arrogant.

Where our leaders got the authority to change the world and establish "global democracy."

How anyone could fool themselves into thinking that a country like the United States,  with vast concentrations of wealth in the control of a tiny minority, could possibly have a genuine democratic government.

Why nobody has noticed that African Americans now find the South more congenial than the most liberal states and cities—and what that means.

Why nobody in authority has ever showed the least concern for the innocent women and children massacred by federal mercenaries at Ruby Ridge and Waco.

Why nobody in authority has noticed that the war in Afghanistan no longer makes any sense—if it ever did.

Why people who have zero physical, intellectual, and spiritual relationship to the American founding generation talk about them as  "Our Forefathers."

Why anybody could possibly fool themselves into a belief that importing  ethnic "diversity"  from the Third World makes for a healthier society.

Why "free enterprisers" can't see that "labor mobility" is not necessarily a good thing—unless laborers are machines.

  1. "How anyone could fool themselves into thinking that a country like the United States, with vast concentrations of wealth in the control of a tiny minority, could possibly have a genuine democratic government"

It has always stuck me as discordant, that so many on the right who are ostensibly against the hyper-concentration of power are not at all wary of the hyper-concentration of wealth.

  2. "Why nobody in authority has noticed that the war in Afghanistan no longer makes any sense—if it ever did."

They can't give up on Afghanistan because it means giving up on Universal Democracy for the universal man etc.

  3. "Why anybody could possibly fool themselves into a belief that importing ethnic “diversity” from the Third World makes for a healthier society."

Some are not fooling themselves, rather masking their drive for personal wealth and political power with cheap,non-ambitious foreign labor.

"Why people who have zero physical, intellectual, and spiritual relationship to the American founding generation talk about them as “Our Forefathers.”

They also lecture us about the evil transgressions of our Southern Forefathres.

  4. Is the refusal to pull out of Afghanistan due to democratic universalism or to a more basic and ancient drive never to admit a mistake?

  5. Why nobody in authority has ever showed the least concern for the innocent women and children massacred by federal mercenaries at Ruby Ridge and Waco.

Because, like the Kulaks in the Soviet Union, they got in the way of the most moral system of government the world has ever known.

  6. "Is the refusal to pull out of Afghanistan due to democratic universalism or to a more basic and ancient drive never to admit a mistake?"

The answer is in the question :)

  7. Why those who call the shots in this country are the people least likely, willing, and capable of defending it.

  8. "African Americans?"

  9. *8: My wife tutors a young lady from Liberia who is studying to take her GED. She graduated from high school in Liberia but all the records were lost during a civil war and her family had to flee for their lives. Her opinion of "African Americans?" She has contempt for this description, saying, "Why do they call themselves 'African' Americans? They are not from Africa and know absolutely nothing about Africa."

May I propose a theory. In my experiences, many people are too gullible. One of my friends idolizes Glenn Beck. While Beck Is better than many newscasters, he is no messiah. Unfortunately, my friend , who hates history, fails to research Becks historical examples. Beck errs in his interpretation of many of our founders true aims. This lack of curiosity, laziness, and gullibility contributes to the surprising success of many newscasters.

My purpose here is not to attack Beck, who I believe is a man who stirs up the current teapartiers, but mainly to highlight the erring of my friend in his failure to research.

  13. It is possible when some people give up faith in a "true" democracy
they will begin to see freedom.

Thank you Dr. Wilson for some of the simple.
