An Enquiring Curmudgeon Wants to Know
Are you enjoying your New American Century?
Whatever happened to that Peace Dividend?
How many foreigners have you encountered lately in your daily activities? Do you think it is too many?
Do you think "we" are making progress in bringing democracy to Afghanistan?
Are you impressed with "Change You Can Believe In"?
Has Joe Biden brought back dignity and stature to the office of Vice President?
Do you think the Republicans are doing a good job as the opposition party?
Wouldn't it be easier if we just moved all the Haitians to the U.S.? Then we could give the island to Disney for a theme park.
Or perhaps make Bill Clinton governor.
Aren't we lucky that America is "a land of immigrants"? How would we ever get along without Kissinger, Brzezinski, Albright, Dinesh D'Souza, the Fort Hood shooter, and Christopher Hitchens? Come to think of it, how could we get along without President Obama.
Do you miss Walter Cronkite? Was he really the most trustworthy man in America?
Have you received your stimulus money yet?

"Have you received your stimulus money yet?"
The stimulus has been a rousing success. It has created millions of jobs and "saved" who knows how many. I believe Obama is selling himself short, however. I think they need to include in those statistics those of us looking for employment who ALMOST got hired as a result of the stimulus. We must give credit where credit is due.
I live in California and I work for the state, so probably about 3-4 out of every 5 people I encounter in my office are foreigners. No, Dr. Wilson, by all means, Haitians should take refuge here in Califoreign (I just now made that up!). No amount of new foreign culture can ever be enough. It's not like America is supposed to be some extension of Western civilization, some predominantly European outpost in the Western Hemisphere.
"Change you can believe in!"
That ranks up there with "The check is in the mail!" and "I'll respect you in the morning!"
"Do you think the Republicans are doing a good job as the opposition party?"
Unfortunately, the Republicans are alive and well. Though incompetent as rulers, I fear they are ready to take full advantage of the end of Obama's honeymoon period. I feel rather foolish for thinking that the end of Republican and neoconservative power had come with Obama's election. Moreover, the lack of serious thought and discussion over at Takimag and LewRockwell.com have caused my dillusions of a conservative renaissance to disappear. Serious conservatives have Chronicles, and that is all.
Do you think the Republicans are doing a good job as the opposition party?
Dr Wilson,
The question begs a category. Are you speaking about the makers, takers, or fakers? As for their opposition to our makers, they have done a fabulous job. I haven't seen anyone make anything in my country for years. As for the fakers and takers category, they perform that role with the "best-of-em."
Wouldn’t it be easier if we just moved all the Haitians to the U.S.? Then we could give the island to Disney for a theme park.
Or perhaps make Bill Clinton governor.
We might as well move them all here. Haiti has been a defacto welfare state for decades. I strongly suggest they be relocated to New England.
What a national treasure we have in Prof. Wilson! Love it!
I also like Bryan's idea about shipping them from Haiti to New England; perhaps we could make a trade - we'll send Team Clinton and Obama to Haiti along with a neo-con pundit of their choice (maybe they'll choose all of them !)
Let the Haitians move to California and the Israeli's move to the northeast. Then maybe the rest of us can just seceede from these places and let them and us live our own lives. Who would disagree that most of us would be quite happy without New England, New York City, New Jersey, Deleware, Philidelphia, Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia? Lets give up Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seatle and Detroit. They can all be city states or go to Canada. Would not the remaining union be a more pleasant and nicer place?
Washington D.C. has been closed since last Friday, buried under snow. Does anyone miss it?
What's wrong with Dinesh D’Souza?
Chris @9:
Are you serious, sir?
"Aren’t we lucky that America is “a land of immigrants”? "
At least the US hasnt yet gone down the path of the UK; there, they have a full fledged diversity Gruppenführer ("Equality and Human Rights Commissioner") the person of "Englishman"(Guyanese) Trevor Phillips.
What? Mow my own lawn? You can't be serious!
@9 "What’s wrong with Gunga Din?"
Well he smeared Sam Francis for one.
I'm with Dr. Wilson on most of these but our "land of immigrants" had some pretty good ones in governnment service-like Stephen Mallory, Christopher Memminger and Judah Benjamin.
In short:
No
I don't know
yes yes
no
no
not really
Definitely NO!
No, but we'd manage
No No and
No
@2 Brock
Califoreign, I like that. Much more couth than Calikosovo.
re: #15
Benjamin was okay, I suppose, once he learned not to meddle with Jackson.
For a good laugh, look at his reply to [Yankee?] critics who decried the supposed oxymoron that he was both Jewish and a Confederate politician.
#10. He is a neocon Faker who got rich peddling books of junk knowledge about my country, of which he knows less than nothing.
Right up there with Allen Bloom and David Horowitz.
Dr. Wilson, the Peace Dividend went right into the pockets of the people Smedley Butler warned us about.
"What’s wrong with Dinesh D’Souza?"

Dr Wilson, I would have added Michelle Malkin to your list of immigrants; another non-native nativist in the wonderful tradition of such 'great' individuals such as Thomas Nast.
I don't think much of Joe Biden (literally not worth the bucket of spit!) but at least he is a relatively harmless knave compared to most of his modern predecessors since WWII: Cheney, Gore, Quale, Poppy Bush, Mondale, Ford, Rockefeller, Agnew, Humphrey, Johnson, tricky Dicky, Barkley and 'Drop the bombs' Harry Truman. This group of men have caused much harm and mayhem to the Republic. Makes my skin crawl just reading their names. Talk about Murderers Row!
