The gossiping gutter press will turn on Obama like a rabid dog. All he has to do is suck up to Arabs. My educated lucky guess: 6 more months.

"The significance of Obama’s election is race. He lost the majority of the white vote."

If this implies that John McCain would have been a whole lot better, "don't make me laugh."

The significance of Obama's election is race. He lost the majority of the white vote. He was put over the top by the immigrant vote that the idiots who run the Republican party have vociferously supported for decades, and were warned about for decades. "[T]raditional moral standards against cultural disintegration", don't make me laugh. This is a racial and cultural revolution, not an economic one, it is the final end stage of the Left's switch from economics to race in the late 1960s. The Republicans may win an election or two due to Democratic economic incompetence, but it is essentially over for them as anything like conservatives. They'll have to skew to the left to please the non-white vote and nominate women'n'minorities, and even then they'll have trouble doing it. The only thing passing is our nation and civilization.

Yes, this is a time when paleo folks need to keep their heads while everyone else is losing theirs. Just keep repeating the truths we know: The GOP can not be trusted and there is a time in life to say as Rooster Cogburn said when Ms. Ross promised to read him a story if he would only stop drinking: "Let it go!" , politics is more important than economics, culture is more important than politics, and theology informs culture. Nothing can be done at the federal level. All politics is local and there is no place like home to attempt to love God and love your neighbor. If you want to strike a blow for civilization in these dark times of decadence read your favorite book, take a long musing walk when the delight of it overcomes you, buy your good friends a subscription to the only thoughtful conservative journal left, Chronicles of Culture, and begin to speak the truth quietly and clearly without casting pearls before swine; be courageous but not rash and be not afraid; love endures and is stronger than death -- This too will pass.

The attempt to revive the Republican party is the thing that all civilised persons and patriots must fear most of all.

So long as the Republicans maintain fealty to interventionism and finance capital, while engaging in a purely thespian approach to the Kulturkampf, who cares? The Republic is being driven into the same swamp even as the driver changes.

It's nice to have a President who can speak a coherent paragraph and wears nice suits, but in the end, how important are the elocution of our President and the skill of his tailor?

I agree to this extent. If a citizen can declare bankruptcy every seven years, why not a political party?
