A Muslim businessman who with his wife created the Bridges TV Network to offer a kindler gentler image of Islam has been arrested for cutting off the head of his estranged wife, who had sough and received an order of protection. Muzzammil "Mo" Hassan, who has been has been lauded by Jay Leno and NPR, has been charged with second-degree murder. What does it take to get a first degree murder charge—vivisection? I wish I could say I am surprised by the fact that Mo Hassan is a "modernized" Muslim living in NY.
I intentionally spent time in some of the Muslim ghettos in Europe (L'Ile Saint-Denis in Paris and the Muslim sector of Hamburg) and I never noticed anything particularly religious about these regions. People were not carrying around the Torah or praying. In fact, these areas reminded me of the ghettos in the U.S. One could hear a strange music (I call it "Arabic rap") that combines the rhythm of American rap with the vocals of Middle Eastern and North African music. One thing that did stand out in these areas, however, was the treatment of the indigenous (French or German) women, rather, the few daring to walk near these areas, who would be groped or even raped. Of course, such behavior did not stay within the Muslim neighborhoods. On a Saturday night one can witness these things almost anywhere in Paris - gangs of young Algerian men walking around assaulting French women. Perhaps this is what we have to look forward to in the U.S.

A Vdare blog article by Brenda Walker quotes a puff piece from The Voice of America that said, "While he and his wife were happy to be in the United States, they were upset by the negative perception of Muslims, and particularly how this perception might affect their children. This is how they came up with the idea of Bridges TV. Mr. Hsssan's wife challenged him to start it."
I suppose Mr. Hassan is now unhappy with the negative portrayal he is getting after cutting off his wife's head.
Q: What does it take to get a first degree murder charge?
A: a Christian defending himself against a posse of Crips and Bloods.
@MAR: I live in Paris, and there are certain categories of people that I simply choose not to interact with beyond "official," necessary frameworks. It is a simple fact that it is impossible for trust to exist between men like them and a man like myself.
(I'll not say what I mean by "men like them." As for myself, I always wear a Crucifix around my neck and I'll leave it at that.)

This is all far too predictable. What is happening in teh neighborhoods you visited are earlier, though fast-advancing, stages of what has already transpired in places like Kosovo. This is the place where some of Europe's "forward-thinking" Marxists expected there to be a "brotherhood and unity" between Muslims and the indigenous Christians, the latter of which have been largely expelled or killed. And yet, the wiser authorities in France and Germany who see the very same insanity playing out in their own lands insist the true Christian heirs of Kosovo are the monsters.
It is fitting that St-Denis is the resting place of the kings of France; this ought to serve as a grisly metaphor for what that town represents for the future of France if the French do not wake up.
France is screwed. Their Jewish president actually has said that all French should learn Arabic and Arabic culture. He has also said that the French should marry interracially to save France!!!! This guy has got to go!!!!!!
Marxists want Christianity killed off, thing is what happens when the Muslims take over? Do these white European elites think they or their kids are going to keep their coveted positions in the class strata? Or are these cowards going to convert en masse to Islam? I mean for now the strategy is simply divide and conquer, but say in another 2-3 generations the conquest will be complete. "French" President (Hungarian Jew) Sarkozy says the French people should "learn Arabic and Arabic culture." Does this mean he expects they should also convert to Islam? (an interloping, left-leaning Jewish politician telling Europeans to become more like their destroyers)

From my experience, most young leftists are profoundly ignorant of history and seem to believe that Voltaire, et al., were just voices crying in the wilderness who had no real affect on the sexist, racist, homophobic, intolerant, repressive, Christian (er, sorry, "Xian") white male patriarchy that existed from medieval times right up until the 1960s, when modern culture developed ex nihilo. (Of course, they will grant some credit to Lincoln, FDR, etc., but you know....)
My opinion is that the Obamaniacs really believe that if they open the gates and let in a bunch of Muslims, that they will somehow be able to mold them into their own likenesses within a generation, and continue to rule as before.

Well, the very first Christians were indeed Aramaic speakers. Christianity spread through Europe eastward from the outer islands of Ireland. France became Christian under King Clovis (Llewis/Louis) in the seventh century, and routed mohammedism less then 100 years later under Charles Martel. Northern Italy, despite its proximity to Rome, was martyring saints in Milan in the fourth century and the True Faith did not become widespread there until the ninth century. Germany was converted by Anglo-Saxon Britons like Saint Olav. Scotland by Saint Cuthbert. Kievan Rus celebrated its first millenium of Christianity in 1984 under Gorbachev.
The church may get small and seemingly insignificant in our time, but a remnant of the faithful will triumph over Gramscism, Marxism, and materialism -- the false gods of our age. I see no reason for discouragement. Get out there and sire five children.
Two minor notes: 1) The first followers of Jesus were undoubtedly speakers of a Galileelean dialect of Aramaic--Peter was recognized by his speech. The first people called Christians were in Antioch, and most of them would have been Greek speakers, and Greek became the first international language of the Church, employed in the West as well as in the East. 2) Gramsci appears to have converted on his deathbed. If Leftists say it was out of fear, then why should they admire Gramsci. If not out of fear, then out of some better impulse.
