"I must be one of those “rationally ignorant” voters the political scientists talk about. Has Mitt Romney been saying things this absurd for his entire campaign, or is this a particularly bad speech? At any rate, I will be even more apathetic from now on since the remaining candidates are even worse than Romney."

If you haven't noticed that Ron Paul (R-TX) is one of the remaining candidates, then you may well be among the rationally ignorant. If you've noticed Paul and regard him as a worse candidate than Romney, then drop the 'rational' in your self assessment.

Though I may agree with him on theological matters, I do have a hard time with the political Mitt. I have a really hard time understanding why running a business qualifies one to be President of the United States. Aren't there some differences there, like profit motive and competition?

There were some ugly moments (even more than usual) in the campaign. Like a question asked by a random civilian in Iowa about what Mitt would do about the Chinese threat, taking our jobs and such. He blithered on about how China represents a great opportunity as well, and that we should take advantage of those opportunities. And then the mumbling bumblings about believing in the Bible. That was hard to hear. Cringe-worthy, even. That was his moment to score some evangelical votes, and it was a swing and a miss. One of my favorites, if I can call them that, was on a debate when a man asked a question as to which conservative candidate would oppose corn subsidies. Mitt Romney talked about how important it was to maintain corn subsidies for our energy independence. I don't remember any justification as to why this was conservative.

Well it looks like Bonnie & Clyde may be nominated on the Republican side of the isle. McCain's in-laws on his wife's side of the family, (John married into a criminal fortune) were all convicted outlaws for bootlegging in the State of Arizona. ... But the funnier part of it is John McCain is not a citizen of the U.S. as a technical matter. No he wasn't born in Mexico although you do have cause to believe so. He was actually born on the banks of the Panama Canal. Check it out. ... Yes not so terribly long afterward in a Jungian synchronicity we lost the canal. (But John survived.) They sent him down canal in a basket. (Not kidding.) No, then John married Up and is mantra today is also 'No, you can't have my Bud Light!'

If King Cryrus could see it now. He'd laugh and say "You can't make this stuff up." Then he'd pause and add "well, yes you can!"

And I'd submit as counselor - "Yes majesty and now they never know when they're going to have another Moses story on their hands." And we'd LAUGH. "Let's send them 'somewhere' to build something. It's getting a little bit thick around here."

John's 'pumped & primed' for 100 years of fighting "islamo-Fascism" of course only where they live, not around here where his own are vulnerable...That's just wherein 'terrorism' and illegal immigration occur. And we'd LAUGH, long as we weren't in the towers (i.e. harm's way) that day...or wherever the show must go on. There's no business like show... no business we know...

Actually with State-Capitalism you can just shorten that whole thing to "there's no business."

Mrs. McCain said last night in a t.v. interview 'now she and her husband were almost home.'

What does she mean by 'home?' She must mean home in the Bush-White House where they'll finally be 'safe' from their own past and ABOVE the Law. What else could she have meant? 'Home, home on the range...'

'Oh, give me home...where the buffalo roam...'

His straight-man-in-a-weird-church was a refreshing change from the weird-man-in-a-straight-church we've seen the last 15 years.

Some of us will miss him, particularly in November, when, barring a miracle, it will be Senator A (R-2611) vs Senator B (D-2611). Feel free to add the requisite number of asterisks to those initials.

A magnificent deconstruction. Thanks! I bet Huckabee's goodbye speech will be even better.
