The difficulties of crafting a successful policy toward Pakistan would daunt even a competent political administration. It is not unlike the art of the Indian snake charmer: to use the cobra without being bitten.

An excellent look at Pakistan without the blinders that appear so common in the MSM. Pakistan can truly be said to be a bullet away from becoming the first nuclear-armed nation rules by Islamic fanatics. I would image that when Musharraf is dispensed with, the new Islamic government will obscure it for days or weeks to prevent any pre-emptive action by the United States (while the warheads are relocated and hidden). In fact, I would expect such a government to name Benazir Bhutto as prime minister (without any power) to make it appear that "democracy" has returned. Then, we will have an "election" that the Islamists win so that our elites can tell us that we have to learn how to get along with Islamic governments armed with nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, THE NEW YORK TIMES says that the recent increase in crude oil prices (back when the price was $50.00 a barrel) has put an ADDITIONAL $500 million PER DAY into the pockets of the Saudi govermnent. All it takes is one of the 6.000 Saudi princes to provide the late Mr. Bin Laden with the money to buy a nuclear weapon -- or a dozen. Wonder where he could find someone who wants to sell them to him for the glory of worldwide Islam?

Enjoyed reading V.S. Naipaul's novel "A Bend In The River" .

The Islamic elite love what gives them power - Islam. The Western elite love what gives them power - oil. Both elites brainwash and destroy their own people with the help of their 'management classes' which make it all possible.

That's why instead of finishing off Al Q in Afghanistan and concentrating all efforts on helping Musharraf see the light and help modify Pakistan our elite went for the oil in iraq. Although it is also beatufiul one cannot see around a bend and so now thanks to our eilite we must live with the bend in the river regarding Pakistan and Iran.

Worse our elite have also permitted Islam and its inevitable extremists using saudi money to take root in all of the mosques that have been subsequently built in the u.s. over the past 10 years. They now actively oppose the so-called islamic moderates when those moderates are vocal, just like they do in Europe. The extremists and their growing followers in the West actually cannot differentiate between constructive criticism of them and their militant religion (like I am doing herein) and 'predjudice'. Since like ALL minority groups be they in this country legally or Illegally they have learned to turn the West's liberal Values into HAMMERS for pummeling the West. But then again so have the West's own elite learned to do the very same thing except to its own people. (Who is worse?)
