Lord, dear, here we must adjust... i don't know if you want to hear this, but you forget the War is 100 years old, almost, and Top >>>down... That, the war now (or the sub-set of the War) is going sideways in its expanding progression these days - is a symptom (yes) though not the DIS-EASE. That's language, no-?-or READ MY LIPS. You're apparently an ok or 'good' Lord... but your peers, dear, they're something else. Can't you DO something at the 'Club?' ... Get back to us. We love generation X just like you apparently do.

Let's put it into language: Social Security and its related Medicare/Medicaid entitlements are nothing less than an ongoing intergenerational act of war. The only winners are the political classes that maintain and expand the programs, and (temporarily) the parasitic beneficiary classes that exploit them.

End Entitlements NOW. Stop the War against Generation X !

Your servant,

PC thanks. I meant cui ... who benefits... answer = Not 99% of the American population... who work ... they're just the (sadly) slaves. At least I didn't ask 'cher bono'? that was a singing duo?

‘invest’ themselves? And yet this economy is 30% of the world’s economy - qui bono? Who benefits?

I appreciate reading all the thoughtful comments here, and I apologize for getting off track. However, I thought I would point out to JQP that it is cui bono not qui bono. The former is literally "good for whom? while what you said is Latin gibberish: who for or by/with/from the good?

Nicholas I do envy you a little bit. The times and perhaps your more propitious family life have conspired, even though both our educations were designed to work against us-(sort of like pin-the- tail-on-the-donkey, you get blind-folded and spun around, educated for oblivion and sent off in darkness with the tail or diploma - may the 'best' man win and all of that)-to make you more hip upon graduation from university than I was at your age. Hemingway pointed out there's always a time to leave one's own country and to become an ex-patriot in voluntary exile if you simply must for whatever the reason. You know enough about economics to see the writing on the wall and to know the direction in which we are heading is systemic and so a natural progression of policy. Really it IS a zero sum game where the Value of money is concerned, and the more that's printed the LESS it's worth, period. Your meager paycheck will as you've pointed out mean nothing. Better instead to think like an aristocrat as you already have begun to it seems.

If they say to you when abroad are you here for a purpose or is it merely exile - smile and say - ah yes, if we only 'knew' that. And keep a diary, who knows you could get a novel out of it... but don't rely on that. That's only a piece of wood you might have some fun whittling. We're only human (next to pig) and so we're not really that good at learning even from mistakes or any good at all at 'knowing' ... but doing we're better at, like travel etc. And in business any plan like yours suggested out loud above is better than no plan. It means at least you're on the road to Doing something, and then all that accrues from that largely results from tinkering or more doing via trial and error. There it is. Bon voyage!

"Given a choice like this, frankly speaking I prefer COMMUNISM. Which may be one reason or the only reason millions of the nation’s elderly won’t simply be tossed out into the streets. You know if you didn’t oppose Castro in Cuba you had a pretty nice life. What sort of life do most people have here, even if they DON’T oppose the regime?"

I just graduated university in May, so I'm about to find out.

Seriously, I am looking into ways to emigrate, because I know at least enough about economics to know that when we see multiple hundreds of percent in cost-of-living inflation, my meager entry-level paycheck will not rise by that much. Conversely, if I were paid in Euro or Sterling, I could buy my parents their seaside retirement castle in Maine in such a period.

"Mr. Bandow has good intentions, but it is almost futile to discuss any specific reforms at this stage. Our first economic priority should not be “tinkering” with any welfare scheme but tightening our money supply and ending tax biases in favor of industrial outsourcing and debt financing." -Nicholas Moses

I agree. Social Security runs at a surplus but the so-called lock box is non-existent, and spent, grubbed by grubberment and grabbed by the rich, in our state-captialistic system by, of and for the Filthy rich. Who gobble you up along with your grandchildren, aided profoundly by YOUR tax dollars. Remeber the equation for state-capitalism is publically financed and insured yet privately owned. IF the social security surplus was/is re-invested into guaranteed financial instruments like Treasury Bills, Notes, Bonds, it would help mitigate our foreign held debt. And that would bring the same 'huge', guaranteed returns to Social Security and our elderly - that would allegedly accrue-(but don't and never do)-if they themselves invested it into highly Risky private investments.

On purpose, by design there is NO actual financial education given americans in fact they are purposefully disinformed about the economy and how it works, and their first actual exposure comes too late when they are seduced as new college students into obtaining a credit card. All of this is Exactly how the folks running the show have it Rigged.

The ONLY reason the problem of Social Security is Not solved is because THEY do not want it solved. When they feel comfortable enough in their own omnipotence to end Social Security and throw all of our elderly mothers and fathers and grandparents out into the street - that's when they will. They're just letting you know (as a part of keeping YOU unstanble and off balance) that's what they very well may do, just because, they were 'born to rule.' And all of these writers who come out of the woodwork in 'explaining' that's how it has to be etc. are a part of their MEDIA. It's the other, albeit demonic triunity of father-son-holy ghost i.e. big business-grubberment-MEDIA under the myth of 'Liberalism' ... but really it's merely of course state-capitalism for the filthy rich... by, of and for them. Everyone knows this except perhaps the yet 'ideological' who may still cling to their worn out beliefs in lieu of facing how impotent they actually are... So they attempt to save face. Reminds me of Tony Blankley actually or if not him per se his ilk.

Whose policy is it to dumb americans down, while bankrupting social security, then give them their few crumbs of sustenance each month to 'invest' themselves? And yet this economy is 30% of the world's economy - qui bono? Who benefits? Given a choice like this, frankly speaking I prefer COMMUNISM. Which may be one reason or the only reason millions of the nation's elderly won't simply be tossed out into the streets. You know if you didn't oppose Castro in Cuba you had a pretty nice life. What sort of life do most people have here, even if they DON'T oppose the regime?

On the other hand keep one eye open to the fact they the 'born to rule' might be looking to jump-start communism long as they're at the top.
