A question for Mr. Pat Buchanan:

Who are “our” “friends”, and who are “our” “enemies” in Iraq?

This would have been a better question for the elite who inititiated the invasion. ---Rumsfeld, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Kristol, Frum, Hadley,Ladeen, The President and our cheerleaders in Congress, the Duopoly Twins. Pat Buchanan did not want this war, predicted what would happpen with this war and knew that friendships in the Middle East are fluid and exagerated at best. Oil is our friend in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Iran and The Gulf States. Who are our friends in Korea ? Cuba ? Africa ? Russia ? China ? If we have none or few, is unprovoked war our only alternative ?

"... The self-deceptions must end. When we draw down and pull out U.S. forces, the odds will [raise] steadily that this war ends[,] as did the one in Southeast Asia — with our friends slaughtered and our enemies triumphant. ..."

Separate Iraq and Vietnam; despite any similarities, "reducing" one to another does not explain here much.

A question for Mr. Pat Buchanan:

Who are "our" "friends", and who are "our" "enemies" in Iraq?

By all accounts reaching us today, everyone there appears to be against the hated occupation - practically the entire Iraqi population. Everyone there would seem to belong to the "enemies" of whomever the aforementioned misnomer "our" stands for.
